24 Bed Ward Project
Hillingdon Hospital - The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Working with the NHS
Partially funded by the Department of Health and provided by ModuleCo Healthcare, the new Pilot Ward sets a benchmark for patient accommodation in NHS Trusts across the UK. Trusts will be closely following the performance of each of the different rooms in the Pilot Ward with the results likely to influence the Department of Health’s guidance on future 100% single-bed ward developments.
Bespoke Design
ModuleCo Healthcare designed bespoke modular units for the scheme to ensure the single rooms fitted within individual units. This allowed ModuleCo to maximise off-site construction opportunities and complete the majority of fit-out in the factory. This reduced the on-site disruption to a hospital where parking and available space is very restricted.
The flagship Pilot Ward is the first in a new wave of NHS 100% single-bed wards. This much-anticipated project was installed by ModuleCo into a prominent London hospital and features three different styles of single-bed room. The 24-bed facility is split into three wings of eight single en-suite rooms. The single rooms in each wing are designed differently to allow the hospital to evaluate the performance of 100% single room facilities and determine which layout is the most functional from a patient, treatment and cost point of view.
Semi- Permanent
After the initial hire period elapsed the trust decided to extend the current contract and keep the facility as long-term part of the estate whilst the trust discuss the hospital rebuild. This was down to many reasons including the modern looking interior and constant throughput at the ward, including the facility being fully maintained by ModuleCo Healthcare made it an easy decision for the trust to extend the hire contract.
