56 Bed Ward Extension
Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Bradford Royal Infirmary, West Yorkshire
Experienced project management
With a high number of experienced site engineers working simultaneously to achieve such a rapid programme, tight project management and clear planning was needed to ensure the ward was patient-ready on time. Communication was key to the success of the 18-week project. Detailed weekly client meetings and project reports, along with internal project reviews and co-ordination meetings ensured complete project transparency, enabling us to eliminate any potential threats to the tight project timetable well in advance.
Construction was able to progress at a rapid pace thanks to thorough planning and detailed design work that ensured everyone was working to the same plans and critical dates for delivery and completion. By dividing the ward into zones and having a clear timetable for where individual trades would be focussing, we maximised on-site efficiency, ensuring the minimum time on-site and the least disruption to the hospital.
ModuleCo Healthcare designed, built and commissioned the high specification 2,100m2 ward in just 18 weeks, setting a new benchmark in off-site construction timescales.
With winter pressures looming and no more ward space available to cope with the coming influx of patients, Bradford Royal Infirmary required a 56-bed ward facility in an ambitious 18-week timeframe. Despite the speed in which it was required there could be no compromise on the quality clinical specification.
In partnership with our clients
The success of this rapidly developed project was driven by the partnership between an exceptionally proactive client and our dedicated in-house project team. With a non-adversarial relationship and a clear understanding of critical project dates, decisions were made quickly, with all parties from the consultants to the site installation team buying into the project plan from the outset.
Fully committed from the start
All of ModuleCo's design resources were made available to the client from the very start of the project. By working closely with them we were able to optimise their preferred design to take full advantage of the benefits of off-site construction, providing specialist detailed design that would reduce costs and project times with no compromise on the clinical specification required. A comprehensive design with individual room character sheets, elevations and M&E specification was produced very early enabling us to empower the client to make informed and timely decisions, quickly getting the project underway.Back To Case Studies
