ModuleCo Healthcare (MCH) worked with manufacturing partner, ModuleCo, and MMM Medical Equipment UK Ltd (MMM) to design, build and construct a new Sterile Services Department (SSD) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Once the existing SSD had been demolished and the groundworks complete the new facility was constructed on the same site. The facility is made up of fourteen 14m x 4m modules and was designed in such a way that the MMM specialist equipment was installed into the modules prior to delivery.
The facility was provided on a 15 year Managed Service Agreement which combine the costs of the entire end-to-end project into one manageable, monthly fee allowing the Trust to focus on delivering healthcare services.
Alan Wilson, Managing Director at ModuleCo Healthcare says: “We've been creating modular facilities for NHS trusts for almost 20 years, but this was the first time we've been commissioned specifically to develop an SSD.
"The main objective was to find a solution to replace the hospital's previous SSD, but this needed to be delivered as quickly as possible to minimise service disruption across the hospital.”
