Modular Surgical Hubs & Theatres For Increased Capacity

The NHS faces a significant backlog of elective surgeries. Addressing this is becoming increasingly difficult due to ongoing capacity constraints within hospital estates and the maintenance backlog.

Modular surgical hubs offer a rapid, cost-effective solution to expand surgical capacity, and can be implemented alongside wards without the lengthy disruptions associated with traditional hospital expansions.

Tackling Waiting Lists

Surgical hubs alleviate strain on the NHS by offering dedicated space for planned operations, separated from emergency care pressures that can lead to cancelled procedures, allowing them to operate more efficiently.

The surgical theatre design can be specifically tailored for high-volume, routine procedures like hip replacements, cataracts, or hernia repairs, helping NHS Trusts meet elective recovery plans.

NHS Frameworks
All our facilities are available through procurement-compliant frameworks provided by Crown Commercial Services (CCS), Shared Business Services (SBS), and NHS Commercial Solutions. This allows for a simpler and faster procurement process, including direct award and efficiency.
HBN and HTM Compliant
We design and manufacture each theatre facility in accordance with the NHS guidelines for healthcare spaces, specifically: HBN26 - Facilities for Surgical Procedures, HTM03/01 - Specialised Ventilation for Healthcare premises, HTM02/01 – Medical Gas Pipeline systems.
Flexible Finance
We offer Hire, Managed Service and Pulse - usage agreements allowing the Trust to combine the full costs of the project: design, enabling works, installation, and upkeep of the facility into a monthly fee. This can also extend to the inclusion of medical equipment into monthly payments.
Maintenance
We provide comprehensive building facilities management, ensuring that your assets are protected, maintained, and operating at peak efficiency. With our tailored maintenance solutions, we help lower running costs, reduce environmental impact, and provide peace of mind.

Thermal Insulation

Our no compromise construction and material specifications mean our building U-values and air permeability performance go well beyond the requirements for Building Control. This allows for a comfortable patient environment and improves sustainability by reducing the heating and cooling requirements throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a surgical hub be delivered quickly to meet urgent elective recovery targets?
Absolutely. Our offsite manufacturing allows us to deliver and commission surgical hubs in as little as 16–24 weeks, helping trusts meet elective recovery plans and reduce waiting lists.
What clinical spaces are included in a typical surgical hub?
A standard hub can include ultra-clean operating theatres, first-stage and second-stage recovery areas, 4–6 bed inpatient wards or single rooms, consultation rooms, diagnostics, clean/dirty utility, staff areas, and reception/waiting zones.
What procurement and funding options are available?
We offer flexible procurement routes including capital purchase, lease, or our Pulse usage-based revenue model, allowing you to align surgical capacity with real-world activity and funding streams.
What types of surgical hubs can you provide?
We design and deliver surgical hubs for a wide range of specialties including general surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, ENT, urology, and more. Each hub is fully tailored to meet clinical, operational, and spatial requirements.
