MCH recently celebrated its 15th Birthday this week. To celebrate this special occasion in our history we sat down with Managing Director Alan Wilson to discuss how MCH has changed over the years.
MCH has turned 15 years old? How does that make you feel?
I think I can speak for everyone who has been involved with MCH when I say that I feel incredibly proud of what we as a business have achieved over the last 15 years.
When did you start and what was it like then?
I started with the business in 2013 as General Manager, which gave me a great understanding of all the different departments and how they worked together. The business had a great footing and had built some decent partnerships, which I’m glad to say are still in place today.
Looking back did you ever envisage the success that MCH has had since then?
MCH has always had a great business model and from my very first day, I knew the team we had in place had the drive to continue building our amazing asset portfolio.
Can you pick one moment that you feel was defining?
A difficult one to answer, however, I believe the delivery of our first multi-theatre, multi-million-pound project, delivered as part of a long-term managed service agreement would be my choice. This provided the stepping stone for further large schemes and confirmed our ability to offer alternatives to standard hire agreements.
What has been the key to MCH’s success?
Simple – the knowledge within the business from the ground up. It is also worth mentioning our manufacturing partner, ModuleCo, who continues to strive for perfection in the provision of world-class healthcare facilities to the NHS.
It must be stressful managing a successful business, how do you like to relax in your spare time?
I find a nice (often frustrating) walk around the golf course can often help me relax. I also believe spending time with my family, especially during holidays, provides the perfect work/life balance.
