We’re delighted to confirm that we’ll be working alongside a number of NHS Trusts to transform the former NHS Nightingale Hospital in Exeter, which will be used to help tackle waiting lists across Devon and the wider South West region.
ModuleCo Healthcare, alongside our manufacturing partner, ModuleCo will be delivering two modular theatres and a four-bed first stage recovery suite as part of the regeneration of the site.
The process is well underway with detailed designs being drawn up in collaboration with the local NHS organisations. Once the designs have been agreed, the modules can be constructed offsite whilst the groundworks are completed onsite. This provides a huge time saving when compared to traditional builds and will help support the Trust in reducing capacity issues caused by the pandemic
It’s fantastic to see modular construction being seen as an effective way to help reduce waiting lists, with the added benefit of a hire solution which means that the Devon and the wider South West region can benefit from the facility soon after it has been installed onsite. This solution avoids the need for significant upfront capital at a time when public sector budgets are restricted.
The new modular facility has been made available via a five-year hire agreement, which amalgamates the costs for the development of the facility, encompassing everything from design and development through to installation and fit-out.
The ModuleCo team is hard at work at our factory in Gloucester, getting the modules ready for installation in the autumn.
Managing Director at MCH, Alan Wilson, said: We’re really proud to be involved in this project as it demonstrates the multiple benefits that modular construction can bring to the healthcare sector.
It was great to see the use of modular healthcare facilities through the erection of some of the Nightingale Hospitals, and it’s fantastic to see it being deployed once again to help tackle mounting hospital waiting lists a topic we’ve spoken about a great deal ever since the start of the pandemic last year.
It’s fantastic to work alongside a number of NHS Trusts on this project and we look forward to handing over the complete, bespoke facility and playing our part in alleviating the pressure placed on our healthcare service.
Jonathan Brindley, Sales & Marketing Director at ModuleCo, added: This project is a great example of how modular construction is a time-effective way of creating high-quality additional capacity for busy NHS Trusts.
We’ve successfully collaborated with our partners, ModuleCo Healthcare, for many years and it’s fantastic to see another project come to fruition!
