MCH Secure Theatre & Ward Suite at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

ModuleCo Healthcare (MCH) have been successful in securing a Managed Services Agreement for the supply of a state-of-the-art Theatre, Recovery and Ward Suite at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Northfield, Birmingham.

The trust have agreed to a long-term commitment for an initial 10 years with the rental inclusive of the facility, enabling works and equipment for both the theatres and ward levels.

The onsite enabling works programme has already commenced, whilst the 26 modules begin the fast track manufacture and internal fit process at our offsite construction facility in Mitcheldean, ready for delivery in September.

On the appointment the Managing Director of MCH, Alan Wilson said,

“MCH specialise in providing high-class healthcare facilities to the NHS and have been doing so since 2002. Our vast experience in the healthcare market and our ability to identify the best financial solution, allows us to work with the trusts financial team to provide a package that meets available budgets. This ensures that the NHS are capable of receiving the highest quality buildings without the need to eat into ever stretching capital funds.”

“Since our first meeting with the management team at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, they have been extremely proactive and committed to improving the care available to the local area. I look forward to working with them over the coming months and witnessing the completion of this exciting scheme.”

The full complex will provide four new operating theatres and a 23-bed ward, which will enable the hospital to treat an additional 2,500 local patients each year.

The first phase of the building will be complete by December 2019.

This development is good news for those waiting for joint replacement surgery. The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, who currently perform around 3,000 hip and knee replacements every year, will soon be treating more patients helping to reduce waiting times in Birmingham and Solihull.

Jo Williams, Chief Executive at the hospital said,

“We are excited to be adding these facilities to our hospital. They will allow us to offer more of our world-leading orthopaedic care to local people and provide a state-of-the-art working environment for our staff. This is a fantastic development for our hospital and for patients in Birmingham and Solihull.”

It is good news for the local economy too, as the new facilities are set to create approximately 130 extra jobs at the hospital, which is the largest employer in Northfield.

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is one of the biggest specialist orthopaedic units in Europe and ranks among the best in the NHS for patient experience with a 96% recommendation rating from patients.
