MCH’s Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence welcomes its first patient, as Welsh Health Minister opens surgical centre at Neath Port Talbot Hospital

Eluned Morgan, the Minister for Health and Social Services in Wales, has officially opened the Orthopaedic Centre of Excellence at Neath Port Talbot Hospital, part of Swansea Bay University Health Board. The Minister carried out a tour of the new surgical facility after unveiling a new plaque to commemorate the opening, with both representatives of the Health Board and MCH being in attendance.

The facility, which was supplied by ModuleCo Healthcare (MCH) as part of a long-term managed services agreement, will be instrumental in helping the Health Board clear the backlog in orthopaedic surgery in the region.

The Health Minister’s visit was part of a broader effort to improve healthcare services across Wales, and she was particularly interested in seeing how the Centre of Excellence is addressing the backlog of patients currently waiting for treatment.

Our Managing Director, Alan Wilson, said: “I was thrilled to witness the successful handover of our modern surgical facility. During the project, we worked in close partnership with Swansea Bay University Health Board and their clinical teams, who have displayed exceptional commitment and determination to bring this scheme to fruition, which will no doubt enhance patient care and service delivery for many years to come.

As a provider of high-specification healthcare estate and revenue solutions, it’s always a great feeling to handover a facility that will assist the NHS reduce waiting times and ensure patients get access to the surgery they need in a modern environment.”
