New state-of-the-art modular theatre at Ipswich hospital

ModuleCo Healthcare (MCH) successfully installed a new modular podiatric foot and ankle surgery theatre at Ipswich hospital, part of the East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.

MCH, in collaboration with manufacturing partner, ModuleCo, oversaw the project from order to handover, including the design, delivery and installation of the new podiatric surgery unit.

The modules were designed, developed and checked for snagging in a controlled factory setting before being installed on site in July.

Works including site connections and fit out have now been completed, with the finished facility being handed over to the Trust.

The new, state-of-the-art modular facility comprises a theatre suite, sterile pack store, scrub area, anaesthetic room and dirty utility room, providing the hospital with vital additional capacity to carry out more podiatric surgeries.

The building has been designed in close collaboration with key decision-makers at the Trust and will be delivered via a bespoke Hire Agreement with MCH responsible for ongoing maintenance of the facility.

Alan Wilson, Managing Director at MCH, said of the project: “We’re delighted with the work that has been completed at Ipswich to have officially handed over the completed theatre within such a small timeframe. This project really shows the positive impact that modular construction can have, especially in relation to  quick delivery times.

“With worsening capacity issues facing the NHS, it’s refreshing to see NHS Trusts embracing Modern Methods of Construction like this. Alongside our manufacturing partner, ModuleCo, we’re confident we’ve developed a bespoke facility that will be pivotal in supporting more patients at the hospital for years to come.”
